Lyrics

SHOT LOVE

I don’t think that I can squeeze through this moment
Without losing a layer of skin
Seems that mouth of yours pulled you across that invisible line
Cause all too often, you just gotta win
And I don’t believe that I could ever let you take back
All those horrible things that you said
Today, when you Shot Love dead

You used to look at me so longingly and softly
With eyes as deep as a well
But over time your soft looks drew harder
And your longings grew shorter
As you stewed in your own private hell
Well, I never thought I’d ever see somebody look so deep into me
With such rage, such hate, such dread
Till today when you came home and you Shot Love dead
Honey, you Shot Love dead

We can splatter these walls with a volley of faults
And just ride out on a river of mud
Or we can lay off the mess, know we both did our best
But our best was not near enough
And I think I’ll always wonder if you ever being happy with me
Was just a dream you made up in your head
And today you woke up and you Shot Love dead
Honey, you woke up and you Shot Love dead
Rise and shine, Sugar, you Shot Love dead

The way I see it this story in my head, it's not my story. It plays out more like a woman saying this to a man. This whole part is written for a woman. My personal experience was the spark over here, but then I took it over there.
